Oat Bran (Avena Sativa)
Oat bran is the outer layer of the oat grain (Avena sativa), rich in both soluble fiber (especially β-glucan) and insoluble fiber, as well as minerals, vitamins, and antioxidant compounds such as avenanthramides. It has been shown to help lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and total cholesterol, improve blood sugar control by slowing digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, support healthy bowel function, and provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. In animal studies, oat bran extracts also showed protective effects on the liver (reducing markers of liver damage) and oxidative stress
